Oh hi there! After 6 months, i decided i might as well not leave this blog die…
After 6 months of being in Japan, i finally feel that my life is going in the right direction. After feeling like shit in the first months, homesick, cultural shocked etc I ended up loving this place very much! Way too much actually ^_^ And so little time until i go home in August. If I were to choose between leaving next month or staying here one more year, I’d deffinitely go for the second option.
Anywhos, Sakura (cherry trees) are blooming, the first semester of the Japanese academic ( academical? grammar check pls) year is starting and this time me and the boys are absolutely determined to make friends with as much people as we can. Well..at least talk to as many as we can. People in Tohoku are starting to recover, horrible events taking place won’t get Japanese people give up. If I admired Japan before coming to Japan, after all these tragic events, I admire this country sooo much more! The press, the goverment, the people are doing their best. Was watching TV last night and they were discussing about the amount of radiations in every part of the country and explaining things properly. They were also showing images of people in Sendai and Miyagi and how they were trying to recover. Some people were trying to clean what was left of their houses, some other woman was pointing to the place where her house was. There was nothing there anymore and with tears in her eyes she said she can’t believe it, but there’s nothing she can do about it, so she will do her best to make things as they were before. She said that with a smile on her face, by the way. This attitude really moves me…and it moves me to see how the entire country is cooperating. Companies from all over Japan are sending free goods to the affected areas. During the time things were serious the companies didn’t want to show their advertisements on tv, because they said they didn’t want to take advantage of the fact that everybody’s watching tv. I wonder how many companies in Europe would’ve done that?
But enought about this, it makes me somehow sad.
Our Leeds exam, on which our entire year depended one, was cancelled due to the recent events. At first, I didnt know how to react…be happy, feel frustrated? What i keep asking myself is how will i get the motivation to study Kanji now? I guess i have to look forward to the JLPT N2 ^_^
Also! Because i have a lot of free time now, i decided i needed a job. Not receiving any scholarship for April is such a pain in the arse, which makes me wonder…how the heck was I gonna survive in Japan without this scholarship? Japan is soooo much more expensive than England. If in England 250 pounds would’ve lasted for a month of expenses (not including rent), 25 000 yen is absolutely not enough. God bless the Japanese government! Anywho, today i had my first job interview ever, and it was conducted in Japanese, of course. Thank God the manager was really nice and quite impressed that I managed to fill in a Japanese resume ^_^ (Thank you internet!). I told him that I’m concerned the Japanese i know so far won’t be enough, because I can’t read very well, but he said it’s the first time he’s hiring a foreign person so he doesn’t know either (lol). But he said he thinks it’s gonna be ok, so I’m starting next week and im shitting my pants only thinking about it. But! If things go well i might earn monthly more than my parents together (that says something about salaries in Romania, right?).
Today all the societies and clubs were gathered outside trying to make people join. Therefore we talked to a lot of people today and everybody was sooo nice. Like more people than we talked to the entire year? Maybe im exagerating (lol). So in the end, we’re gonna join 3 different groups of people we dont know for Hanami (cherry blossom viewing and drinking at the same time).
As usual, excuse any shit English you’ve read. I think lately my English spelling is getting really bad and I barely speak any Romanian (as in like NEVER, except for skyping with family and friends)…Oh, Japan…
Here’s some pictures:
1. Some lovely flowers, have no idea what they’re called, but they’re pretty
2. Sakura almost in full bloom..almost
3. random chicken and bunny guy lol
4. us and the american football team, that pic had to be taken!
P.S.: I think Korean dramas will slowly but surely destroy my life. They are SO ADDICTIVE!
